Words On Dance

About

Words On Dance, a nationally recognized non-profit organization, serves the performing arts community at large by producing live, onstage conversations and screenings with the most notable artists of our generation.  Founded by Producer Deborah Dubowy in 1994, Words On Dance presents live dialogs, so audiences can hear firsthand about the creative forces and motivations that have shaped the most brilliant lives in dance and theater.

The rare opportunity to view performance screenings is an ongoing hallmark of Words On Dance, providing audiences a deeper understanding of the work with the immediate commentary of the artists who are present.  Words On Dance generates a constant re-interpretation and update of performing arts history so the past, present and future will be further understood through the words of each artist.  This context provides an immediate source of knowledge.

All programs are filmed for placement in educational and cultural organizations, making Words On Dance one of the most valuable projects in performing arts documentation.  The rich collection of programming includes, among others, Violette Verdy, Maria Tallchief, Edward Villella, Helgi Tomasson, Peter Martins, Merrill Ashley, Allegra Kent, Cynthia Gregory, Mark Morris, Michael Smuin, Martine van Hamel, Kent Stowell and Francia Russell, Frederic Franklin and younger influential choreographers and dancers such as Yuri Posshokov, Joe Goode, Mikko Nissenen, Lorena Feijoo and Tina LeBlanc.

The artist being the primary resource about their work, such personal recollections of training, performance and collaboration reserve the most intimate understanding of the art form for generations to come.

Of equal importance, Words On Dance documents Master Classes taught by the artists when they are available during their engagement.
